AVANT JACQUES CARTIER Avant même l'arrivée des premiers Européens, la Gaspésie était habitée, il y a de ça plus de 8 000 ans par les Planos, les ancêtres de ce qui est aujourd'hui le peuple micmac. Les descendants des Basques, notamment les Bastarache, Castilloux, Delarosbil ou Roussy, peuvent se vanter de ce que, peut-être, un de leurs ancêtres se trouvait sur les rives de la Gaspésie bien avant le voyage officiel que Jacques Cartier fit pour la Couronne française en 1534.

BEFORE JACQUES CARTIER Before the arrival of the first Europeans, Gaspésie was inhabited more than 8000 years ago by the Planos, the ancestors of what is today the Micmac people. The descendants of the Basques, especially the Bastarache, Castilloux, Delarosbil or Roussy, can boast that perhaps one of their ancestors was on the banks of the Gaspé Peninsula well before the official trip that Jacques Cartier made for the Crown French in 1534.
